The deVeber Institute for Bioethics and Social Research is currently hiring for the position of Research Associate. deVeber is an equal opportunity employer and strongly encourages applications from all candidates.

We are looking for someone with experience in research, specifically database searches and scientific inquiries, reading and writing on research material. A strong candidate is someone who is familiar with end-of-life issues in Canada as well as women’s health and related issues. The research associate will be asked to work on updating pregnancy and abortion-related statistics from our book Complications: Abortion’s Impact on Women as well as updating research on palliative care and assisted suicide as in It’s Not That Simple: Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide Today.

Skills and qualifications required:

  • Someone who can work independently with limited supervision.
  • Individual is a strong researcher; has access to university/post-secondary databases and knows how to access periodicals from a variety of sources and read for detail and accuracy.
  • Someone who can read quickly and sort through large volumes of information to synthesis and report on studies on various bioethical issues.
  • Someone who is available to work remotely and be in contact with deVeber Research Committee and lead supervisors consistently via email, phone, text or fax. Opportunities available if candidate is outside of Ontario.

This opportunity is an 8 week summer research opportunity beginning ASAP/mid-July 2020.
